Detox the natural way- SA Sauna 0215570298

Posted by admin On July - 31 - 2008

Another way it is good to detox from chemical poisoning, as we have found out from Dorothy’s research is via our biggest organ, the skin and through sweating. We have got a Far-Infrared sauna, which is a bit like a large wardrobe which we have outside on our patio.

We use the far infrared sauna regularly and it seems to make a big difference to how we feel. I have been using it a lot recently for my throat and it does seem to help. Plus it really cleans your skin from the inside out leaving it looking and feeling smooth and radiant. Friends and others who have tried these saunas find they help them tone up, relieve joint and muscle pain and help with many other health conditions including arthritis, weight loss and there have even been reported cases of certain cancers being cured by this method of detoxification.

It is so clear that a holistic (or whole picture) approach to health is necessary.

5 Solar Solutions that impact your wallet

Posted by admin On July - 29 - 2008

Some companies are struggling to go green, but rumour has it Toyota (TM) is going greener.

Japanese business paper the Nikkei reported earlier this month that the company plans to install solar panels on the redesigned Prius in 2009. The solar panels will provide two to five kilowatts of electricity to power utilities like air conditioners and radios.

Sales for the Prius are booming, especially in light of rising gas prices and the growing go-green trend. But if you aren’t ready to give up your gas guzzler, or simply can’t afford a R220,000 car, there are other ways you can get in on the solar craze.

Take a Look!

Solar Water Heating:

Installing a solar water heating system costs between R10,000 and R25,000, says Dominic Symes, professional engineer for Solar direct in Cape Town, South Africa. The installation process requires solar panels and your existing geysers, to produce hot water. The system, Symes says, can cover 60 to 80% of your total water heating needs. And, while the initial purchase is costly, the long-term payoff is substantial. “After about three years, you’ll really see the value in the system,” Symes says. “At that point, the system will basically pay for itself.”

Solar Pool Heating:

With solar pool heating, you can extend your swim season by months. Depending on the size of your pool, buying and installing a solar pool-heating system costs anywhere from R4,000 to R12,000. According to the SESSA, a branch of the Department of Energy’s website that focuses on energy efficiency and renewable energy, the cost of heating your pool with solar power runs from R220 per square meter.

Solar pool heating can save hundreds of rands each year, and according to Symes, this system has the greatest payoff of all solar heating systems. “The most expensive installment is the conventional grid type stuff, where you use solar power to reduce the energy your in-house utilities use,” Symes admits. “But it’s not difficult to install a [solar] heating system for your pool for four or twelve thousand rands, and the payout is great, it’s about two years.”

Solar heating systems all require solar panels (amount will vary based on the system), and a prior consultation to decide if solar power is right for you.

“There are certain conditions where it is just impractical,” Symes says. “Trees are usually the number one reason, along with space limitation, and limited access to the sun.”

The sauna with all it’s traditions has a special place in our hearts. The steady increase in the popularity of saunas is a sign of the times : more and more people are taking their health and well-being seriously.

The sauna has become a natural part of everyday life, integrated into our balanced and wholistic lifestyles. A haven in the home where family and friends can meet to relax after a work-out in the gym … a refuge where you can unwind at the end of a long, hard day.
Saunas relax your muscles and refresh your mind. First the quivering heat, the sizzle of cold water sprinkled over hot stones and then wave after wave of hot air gently massaging it’s way into your skin. Round it off with an invigorating shower - and afterwards you feel like a new person in body and soul.
A sauna must be able to cope with both dry heat and clouds of steam. SA Saunas are built for all kinds of bathing - dry saunas, wet saunas, steam saunas (Tylarium) and herbal saunas.

So sauna timbers need to have special qualities to withstand these extremes: from high-temperatures and a low relative humidity under 10% to the more temperature climate of a steam sauna with 70% humidity at 45C.
SA Sauna uses close-grained, Scandinavian spruce in its factory-produced saunas. It is a first-class timber, dense and with a surface that can cope with both heat and high humidity.

Alternatively, if you prefer, SA Sauna also makes saunas in Cedarwood, or in the time-honoured, old-fashioned way with sturdy logs. Benches, duckboard and backrests are manufactured of low density Obeche.

Traditional sauna bathing (dry and wet saunas)
Every sauna starts with a shower. Afterwards, scrubbed clean and armed with a towel to sit on, inside the sauna. Every now and again you ladle water over the hot stones, setting the air quivering with heat feeling how the warmth penetrates deep into your skin.
When you have begun to perspire, it is time for another visit to the shower. Now your pores are open and you can wash yourself really clean. Then you return to the sauna, where you can relax and unwind, emerging now and then only to cool down with an invigorating shower.
Wet saunas are enjoyed at temperatures of between 75C and 90C, in a relative humidity of 20-35%. If you prefer a dry sauna and do not sprinkle water over the stones, the humidity is only 5-10% and you can increase the temperature above 90C. Tylo sauna heaters are the right choice for aficionados of traditional sauna bathing.

The right setting makes a good sauna even better….

The FACTS about using a FAR Infrared Sauna | SA Sauna, Widest range | 0215567228

Infrared saunas are a new type of sauna that eschews the aspects of a traditional sauna. Traditional saunas, also known as Finnish saunas, use steam to heat the air within the sauna to create a sweltering environment in which the user can work up a sweat. The problems with these saunas is that they take [...]

Solar Water heating systems on the Cards for Western Cape

Posted by admin On July - 27 - 2008

The concept of using Solar Water Heating systems is not new. In fact it became popular during 1980’s. These systems were a craze in the country during that period. However the real revolution came with the Israel’s population using these systems to save power.

The Solar Water Heating Systems are one of those technological products that are environment friendly. It is a product of the attempts to come up with a water heating system that does not consume any type of fuel. Currently the technology has been properly developed to heat the water using solar energy. For the purpose many different types of solar water heating systems are available, A solar water heating system is designed to be used in the home of the consumers. It can even be used to heat the water in swimming pools. The best part is that after a correct installation, there hardly is any need for maintenance.

The home Solar Water Heating Systems consist of three main components, : Solar Panels, heat transfer system and a hot water cylinder. The solar panels can be fitted on the roof . The purpose of these panels is to collect heat through radiation.

There are two types of solar panels. A flat panel which has an absorber plate with a transparent cover . This plate can collect the heat. Then there is panels with evacuated tube systems. They have a row of glass tubes containing absorber plates. The heat transfer system transfer the collected heat into the water the hot water cylinder is used to store hot water , heated during the day. The water then can be used for late ruse.

The best thing about solar water heating systems is that even in winter with less sunlight they account for 50% of all your water heating every year. Usually there are two types of solar water heating systems. They are the the two-tank and the one-tank . Both of them are extremely popular and the difference is just about the storage capacity. The solar panels can be fixed on the roof of as well as the ground of the house.

If installing the solar water heating systems, it is best to use a North facing roof. This is because this way the panels will receive the maximum sunlight during the day. For more information on the concept of solar water heating systems, visit http://www.hitemp.co.za/wordpress

Although it is not a law that everyone should use solar water heating systems, with these systems we can save so much fuel and electricity. Therefore it is better to start using systems.

Solar Pool Heating works well- Hi Temp

Posted by admin On July - 27 - 2008

In 2002 I had a solar pool heating system installed at my home in Sunningdale- Cape Town.

Since then I have move to Atlantic Beach Golf Estate and used the same company to install 8 solar pool heating panels at my home.

I have found the solar panels to be very effective- and my pool reaches a temperature of 34′C in summer. This is ideal for late night swims and skinny dipping with my wife. I also found that using the solar pool heating system in conjunction with a solar heat retention blanket the efficiency is improved.

The solar heat retention blanket reduces heat loss as well as water evaporation. I also noticed a drastic drop in the use of pool chemicals.

Solar Pool Heating Explained

Posted by admin On July - 26 - 2008

Cold water is drawn from the pool via the pool pump to the sand filter. Your current pool pump configuration will lead the water back to the pool once filtered. When solar panels are installed, this is the stage where a riser pipe is led to the panels situated on the north facing roof. The panels outlet will lead back down and connect with the original pipe leading to your pool. The water will keep circulating as long as the pump is running. The heating cycle can be isolated by closing the valve between cold and hot water pipes. For more info visit Cape Solar Heating

In our toxic world, saunas are a wonderful way to relax and detox your body.  I have been taking saunas for years even during chemotherapy for Non-Hodgkin’s T Cell lymphoma.
I used the YMCA traditional sauna until I could afford to invest in a home infrared sauna room.  My health tips may help sauna newbies as well as veterans.
If you have health issues, please check with your trusted health care provider before using any sauna.  What is healthy for me . . . may not be healthy for you:

While waiting for your sauna to warm up, begin to sweat by doing some light exercise.  For example, take a walk, jump on a rebounder for a few minutes, lift weights, etc.

Skin brushing is another excellent option before a sauna.  It increases your circulation, enhances your immune system and removes dead skin.

If you are sick, never sauna unsupervised.  Always have someone around to help you and make sure you  replenish electrolytes and minerals lost during your sauna.

Always start slow at low temperatures and small increments of time like 5 to 10 minutes.  Let your body adjust to heat especially if you don’t sweat.  You may take several sessions before your body’s thermostat naturally reacts to heat by sweating.

Infrared saunas will heat your body at much lower temperatures.  Make sure you don’t turn the heat up too high.

Do NOT eat a big meal, take drugs or drink alcohol before your sauna.  Heat, digesting a heavy meal, drinking alcohol and taking drugs do not go well together.

If you get too hot during your sauna but want to prolong the session, take a cool shower and turn down the sauna heat to continue the session.

A thermometer is a good way to see if you are elevating your body temperature.  You want to slightly elevate your temperature for the benefits of a slight fever without overdoing it by elevating your temperature too high.

Many people become addicted to using their saunas.  If you are the type who likes to bake in your sauna frequently and profusely sweat, make sure you stay well hydrated and supplement with minerals.

Your pores will be wide open after your sauna.  Do NOT use toxic shampoos, soaps or skin lotions after your sauna.

Like the Finnish . . . jump in a cold shower, run in the snow or plunge in a cold lake after your sauna.  The hot followed by cold increases circulation to all areas of your body.

Use a spray bottle of water to lightly spritz your body occasionally.

Stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water during your sauna and throughout your day.  I suggest ionized alkaline water because of its super hydrating, oxygenating and detoxing capabilities.  Check out www.BetterWayHealth.com for more information about this delicious water.

These tips are based on my personal experience and are provided to help you get started using your infrared sauna.  However, check with your health care provider before using saunas for your health.
If you have any questions about infrared saunas, please feel free to call or email me.

FAR Infrared healing for your pet?

Animals are instinctively drawn to sunlight as a source of nurturance. Dogs, and especially cats, are notorious sunbathers. That’s why the makers of Fauna Sauna are on to something. Fauna Sauna uses the same radiant heat that the sun produces, minus the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays, to bring healing to your pet right in your home.
Far infrared heat, also known as radiant heat, has been used in medicine for more than 100 years. It has been applied to humans and animals as therapy for joint and muscle pain due to arthritis or overuse, therapy for stress, and for healing skin wounds and infections.
Far infrared can penetrate up to two inches of skin, muscles, and joints, increasing circulation and cell regeneration in damaged tissue. Until recently, far infrared technology has only been used in therapeutic settings. Some home saunas for humans are now utilizing far infrared technology, but Fauna Sauna is the first pet far infrared device for the home. You will notice that it is totally open, unlike human saunas, so air circulation and pet claustrophobia are not issues you need to fear. Fauna Sauna weighs less than 10 pounds and can be set up and moved as desired throughout the house or where your pet hangs out most.
One of the beauties of far infrared heat is that it warms objects, not environments so, no, Fauna Sauna will not heat your home. The Sauna doesn’t even get warm until your pet enters its sphere. You are advised not to place your pet in front of the Fauna Sauna, but to let him discover it himself. Whether it takes a day or a few weeks, your pet will eventually discover the benefits of Fauna Sauna for herself and begin making regular visits, staying for minutes or hours at a time, deciding how close or how far from the heat source she wants to lie. (Radiant heat is very energy efficient so you don’t need to worry about even higher energy bills.) The Fauna Sauna is not cheap; the Fauna Sauna Classic costs R4999, its Pro version is R6400. But the Fauna Sauna comes with a lifetime warranty and a 60 day trial period so you can see if it provides the results your pet needs.
You have to admit, it looks pretty enticing. I want to crawl up next to Fauna Sauna myself!  That’s the buzz for today!

Swimming Pool Heat pumps for all year round swimming

Posted by admin On July - 24 - 2008

It is getting more and more popular to own a swimming pool. If you have your own home you want a swimming pool of your own too. There are so many benefits to having your own pool. You can swim and relax anytime you want. You can float in your pool while reading.
Swimming pools provide relief from the scorching heat in summers. In winter, however, you can also look forward to swimming if you have a swimming pool with a heat pump! What is a heat pump? Have you ever wondered how an air-conditioner or refrigerator works? A heat pump is a mechanical device that pulls heat from one source (air or water) and transfers it to another.
Heat can also be pulled from water as well as the air. If you are thinking about taking a swim during the winter months, you need to think about a heat pump for your swimming pool. This can mean many more months of the year of happily swimming in your pool.

Shops sell a variety of heat pumps for swimming pools. They will all heat your pool water summer and winter. The good news is that highly efficient heat pumps for swimming pools don’t cost a lot to operate. They require much less energy to run due to the fact that they don’t produce heat and instead only transfer it.

Heat pumps for swimming pools save energy and are easier on the environment than heaters which must create primary heat. Heat pumps operate on the physical law that heat will migrate from warm to cool areas. Heat is absorbed from the air and transferred to a refrigerant gas which is circulated to provide heat to your pool. Because heat is only being moved and not created, only a small amount of electricity is necessary. Every unit of energy used by the heat pump results in many units of heat provided to your pool.

Was great health, your new years resolution?

NOT too surprising is the fact that one of the most common of New Years resolutions is also one of the most often broken. If you’re a man who makes an effort to tuck in your bulging waistline when in the company of the fairer sex, you know what I mean. If you are a woman who thinks that dressmakers mislabel size eights as size ten, you have probably made that resolution a few times yourself. That’s right.

One of the top three is the firm resolution to lose weight. Its easy to see why few of us are able to stick to that self-made promise. First of all, food is everywhere around us at home, at work, and often even at church. Secondly, most of the food and snacks that taste good are filled with padding that heads straight for our hips and thighs. And in third place, modern sit-down work places and appliance-filled homes have eliminated much of good old-fashioned outdoor exercise that kept our ancestors slim and firm.

Naturopathic Doctor (ND PhD) Gez Agolli of Progressive Medical Centres said, Beyond health and cosmetic reasons, there is a spiritual element for keeping fit. In I Corinthians 6:19-20 we read, Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own, you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body. Shedding pounds not only eases the load on the heart, but it increases our feeling of self-worth. He also quoted Proverbs 17:22, A cheerful heart is good medicine. Lets face it, not too many of us are able to run five kilometres, bicycle fifteen kilometres, do one hour of aerobics, or work out an hour in the weight room. Yet it takes that much effort to burn 600 calories that are stored in bumps and rolls on our bodies. So, how do we keep that promise to shed the pounds?

Dr. Gez Agollis answer: Weve discovered that the FIR (Far InfraRed) sauna by Detox Africa is an effective way to lose that weight because it is simple. FIR raises your metabolism without exercising and you actually burn up to 600 calories by using it in 30-minute sessions 3-4 times a week. Add mild exercise for muscle tone and a sensible diet and you can become a new you for the New Year. Their portable unit heats up in five minutes, costs only 10 cents per hour to operate, is durable and comes with a portable carrying case. Outdoors work and exercise in sunlight exposes us to FIR, which penetrates to heat up cells in our body. Gez Agolli explains that the effect is like getting into a car and touching a steering wheel that is hotter than the surrounding air. Sitting comfortably in your Detox SA Sauna reading or listing to music sweats off those stubborn pounds by reducing fat and cellulite.

But there are even greater bonuses, says Gez Agolli. FIR reduces stress and pain, relaxes muscles, improves circulation, boots energy and mental alertness, and speeds healing of soft tissue damage. Drinking plenty of water avoids dehydration and aids in sweating out toxins. He also points out that replacing the loss of electrolytes is important. Gez Agolli recommends natural electrolyte drinks such as Ultima and Emergen C found at local health food stores. Most vital nutrients are also found in a good diet. He does not endorse sports drinks because of the artificial colors and high fructose corn syrup. Asked about patient testimonials, Gez Agolli said, Weve had numerous positive comments of weight loss from ten to over 50 kilograms from FIR treatment over a span of up to six months. With a regimen of three sessions per week the weight can be kept off. Most users experience a noticeable increase in energy, vitality and self-image. To learn about Detox Africa’s FIR portable sauna, go to Detox Africa or call Celeste Chambers at Detox Africa (086) 044-8367. You have nothing to lose but your excess kilograms. Would’nt it be great to be able to drop lose weight from your next New Years resolutions?
